Testimony of Stash

Interviewed by Pastor Dre Henderson

3 April 2024

What did you study?

Stash says that she studied animal health so that she could be an animal health technician.

What does an animal health technician do?

“An animal health technician ensures that all animals are well taken care of and in good health. This can be from cats and dogs to pigs and sheep, all types of animals are well taken care of.

If they are sick, they get treatment they are fed well, the right food. So anything pertaining to the health of an animal, an animal health technician plays a part in. We also work alongside vets to prevent as well as control disease outbreaks should they occur.

So, with animal health technicians, there are different facets to it because we also can play a role in abattoir inspections that's before the animal gets slaughtered for us to eat. So, there's different roles and different facets to an animal health technician.”

How did you balance work, studying and ministry?

Stash says that she prioritized and managed her time well. Whatever free time she had, whether it was after work or during weekends, she would utilize the towards her studies.

She says she prioritized ministry and scheduled her studying around her responsibilities at church and if they clashed, she would get someone to replace her in the ministry, ahead of time.

What are some of the challenges you faced while studying?

She says that she faced a lot of anxiety and had many sleepless nights where she would stress about if she would meet deadlines or have enough finances to pay for her tuition.

What helped her was putting on some worship music or watch a preaching, which helped her overcome her anxiety and quiet the noise.

A word of encouragement from Stash:

“My word of encouragement to students would be, don't give up, the finish line is closer than it seems.

It may seem like there's a million different obstacles or hurdles before you reach the finish line, but you can do it, God will give you the strength you need and God will carry you through the finish line, you can do it.

Don't give up.  My encouragement to those that are students in ministry and working, I would just encourage them to continue doing what they're doing, continue serving God.

Continue giving your best to God. Continue putting God first and God will give you the desires of your heart. God will help you with your studies. God will help you with the assignments, the projects, and the tuition.

Whatever it is that you need help with, God will be there for you, you just need to continue serving God. Continue giving God your all and continue doing what you are doing.”
