TITLE: THE LORD OF THE HARVEST

TEXT: GEN. 8:22, JOHN 4:35-37, LUKE 10:2

GEN. 8:22 –KJV

22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

JOHN 4:35-37 –KJV

35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. 37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

LUKE 10:2 – KJV

Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

HERE’S WHAT WE LEARN FROM THE ABOVE SCRIPTURES:

  1. Seasonal changes and the principle of sowing and reaping will never stop.
  2. As a result of the above, HARVEST is guaranteed to always occur.
  3. There are times when the known conditions for a harvest in the natural may not be right or visible.
  4. There is something or someone known as “THE LORD OF THE HARVEST”
  5. Ours is to PRAY  to ‘Him’ and His, is to SEND labourers (the required help) to the field.

THIS IS HARVEST!

We are enjoined therefore to:

  • LIFT UP OUR EYES …Away from the unfavourable conditions
  • LOOK…quit looking in the natural. Look with the eyes of the spirit
  • PRAY…Come, Seek, and ask ‘The Lord of the Harvest’

WHO IS THE LORD OF THE HARVEST:

  • This refers to the one who’s got the absolute ownership of everything and everyone AND
  • The one in whom is vested the supreme authority and power to galvanise all that is needed to cause a harvest.
  • He is the one IN CHARGE of all things.

To secret to fully understanding and engaging the Lord of the Harvest lies in understanding who the LORD is.

2 Peter 1:2-4 –kjv

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

  • The sound knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ leads to multiplication. (Grace and Peace and etc.)
  • The knowledge of the Lord and of Jesus Christ grants us access to ‘ALL THINGS’ that pertain to life and godliness given to us by Him.
  • The sound knowledge and understanding of who the Lord is makes us PARTAKERS in experience of the divine nature.

Psalms 23:…This is a concise capture of His PERSON.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.

The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. 10 All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee.

14 The Lord upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.

17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. 18 The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. 19 He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. 20 The Lord preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy. 21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.
