Tell us a bit about yourself?
Angie says that she left school when she was really young due to circumstances. She says that she found herself working in jobs that she did not like. She says she used to count down the minutes because she could not wait to leave her job. She says that she attended night school which was very difficult.
She had to attend to her daily life, which included working, seeing to her children, and then having to attend night school. She says that her life just revolved around that continuous cycle, but she knew that God had something better for her life.
She says there were many obstacles that were put in her way, but she completed her matric and then just wanted to do more. Angie says that she eventually studied to obtain her degree, which she done part time at UNISA.
Angie says that its not easy to educate oneself. She says she always felt like giving up but knew she had to keep going. She says being a single parent that was always sitting with her books helped to encourage her children to do the same.
Her interests were with the community, helping people who wanted an education as badly as she did. Angie then went into ABET – educating adults, she continues to help people achieve their dreams through education.
Words of encouragement from Angie to those who wish to complete their matric:
“Do your best, study hard. Revise your work. Do the best that you can because nobody wants you to do better than what you can do, and you can do it.
Don’t listen to the lies of the enemy don’t listen to people that want to discourage you. You go out there and do your best because that matric certificate is gonna open doors for you in the future.
It’s gonna be the opportunity for you to get a job, it’s also gonna be the the selling tickets to go into universities and colleges to further yourself.
So, this education is very very important. For those of you that don’t make it, just go do it again. There’s nothing that should stop you from getting this matric certificate. So go write again, do your best the second time. Learn by your mistakes and you will make it.
You will make it, some of us just take longer to get things done but as long as you get done. A failure is only somebody that gives up completely. You have it in you, it is there, you just need to unlock all the potential that is within you. I want to also encourage the parents to support the children.
To give them all the necessary love and care that they need during this time because it is a very stressful time. And then there is people that doesn’t have matric at all. It doesn’t matter guys come on now even if you don’t have a primary school education. Even if you can’t read and write it doesn’t matter.
Just take that first step to say that I can better myself. You can do this – this is available for everybody. And once you start something don’t give up, push to the very end.
How can people reach you?
