Run 4 Hope – What I Learned

Run 4 Hope – What I learned

Hebrews 12:1

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance, the race marked out for us,

4 Things that I learned from the Run 4 Hope yesterday.

  1. Your role and gift are important.

There were people that were assigned to give us water, encourage us, and see if we needed anything while we were running.

Wow, what a difference these people made.

Handing out the water help me finish the race.

Shouting words like keep going, keep pushing and you got this makes a big difference when you are in the middle of the race.

They did a great job.

Of course, you had those who were doing it as passionately and then you had others that were doing it because they were asked, but that is another preaching for another day.

I want to give a shout-out to the ones that helped me finish.

I want to give a shout-out to the Marshalls that were passionate.

If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have finished the race.

They were shouting words like you got this, keep pushing, come on press on and even running alongside at times.

Can I encourage someone in the body of Christ today.

Keep pushing for that degree.

Keep praying and believing for that Son, Daughter, Mom or Dad to be saved.

Keep going after all God has for you.

Keep going after that calling.

Keep pressing and studying for that matric.

  • There will be complainers along the way.

In this race, you are going to have people that are complaining.

When I was running yesterday, I came across someone who wandering how come we don’t have this and how we don’t have that.

How come they didn’t give us this and how come they didn’t give us that?

It was hard for me to focus on my race because now I am hearing someone who is not happy, and they are running next to me.

I tell you the energy that was used to listen to them and keep running was on a level.

Let's bring it to you and me in our spiritual race.

There are going to be times when we come across people that are not happy about something.

Maybe they don’t like sister so and so.

Maybe they don’t like brother so and so.

Maybe they don’t like the way this is done.

They don’t like the way that is done.

It is ok to listen to them, but it is another thing to run with them.

You will be surprised how much energy you will save when you run with people who are focused.

That leads me to the next thing that I learned.

  • There will be encouragers along the way.

In this race you are going to need people that will encourage you to keep running, keep pushing and keep going.

If you only knew the difference it made when another runner came along side me and said you got this Pastor Dre keep going.

You got this keep pushing.

Shouting as they passed my by

What a difference an encouraging word can make.

Now you might not get any credit as the one who helped someone to finish the race, but it makes a big difference.

I guess I am trying to say.

If you have the gift of encouragement, I encourage you to use it.

If you haven’t encouraged someone lately, you can send them a message or a shout out, letting them know you appreciate them.

  • Run at your own pace.

The last thing that I want to share that stood out to me from Run 4 Hope was run the race at your own pace.

I started at a certain pace but the challenge was to keep that pace even when I saw others blazing past me.

I knew I had to keep a certain to finish the race.

My goal was to not only finish but run the entire team.

Yes, there were times people that were walking were moving faster them me, but I worked it. Lol

I started with a goal, and I wanted to complete that goal.

If I were to get caught up in competing for a goal rather then completing a goal I may not have finished the race.

Lets bring it to our spiritual race.

If we try and run this race at someone else’s pace, then we may get tired and quit.

This can happen when we start comparing our self to someone else’s progress.

Ok you might not be going as fast as them, but keep running the race.

It is not a competition.

You might not have the gifting they but keep running your race.

It is not a competition.

You might not be seeing the results they are seeing but keep running your race.

It is not a competition.

You might not have this or that but run your own race.

Remember why you got in the race in the first place.

It wasn’t to compete it was to complete.

They key thing to finishing a race is to run at your own pace.
