Testimony of Auden Hector

Interviewed by Pastor Dre Henderson

20 December 2023

How was your life like before you came to know the Lord?

testimony of Auden Hector

Auden says like many of the youth on the Cape Flats, he grew up without a father and was seeking a role model.

He says he found many role models, but he had found them on the corners, drug dealers’ yards and all the wrong places.

Auden says those are the guys that gave him purpose at the time because they gave him something to do. He says because he was seeking acceptance, he followed them.

He was thus led on a path of destruction and hurt all those who loved him, and it robbed him of his future. Auden says all he was, was a burden in life.

How did you end up changing?

Auden says he dropped out of school at the age of 15. He says it took him a while to realize that he needed to change. Auden was addicted to Tik and learned about a Rehabilitation Centre called The Victory Home, he booked himself in there and says that is where God changed his life.

How is God using your life today?

Today Auden has an education. God is using him and his wife in the organization called ‘The 123 Movement’ where they help people with their basic needs, facilitate educational processes by helping them to read and write.

Words of encouragement from Auden:

“People must realize that they are not alone, and they don’t need to be lonely in this world populated with so many people. Many times, what the enemy wants to do is to isolate us and again I say together we are stronger.

It is not good for man to be alone, the Bible says. If you need a breakthrough, in need of encouragement in your life, you need to reach out to someone. You need to be able to realize that your purpose will surface when you engage with someone, whether it is with the Lord in prayer on your knees or with someone that you trust in the church. Victory Outreach is a beautiful church.

I went into conversation with someone, and I began to learn and discover more about why I am here. I learned about myself. I realized my identity and you can only realize your purpose if you know who you are, if you realize your identity.

My encouragement to you today is don’t isolate yourself, come out of that dark corner where the enemy has you captive. Reach out, open your voice. Your voice is one of the most powerful things if not the most powerful thing that you have as a human being.

You are smart you, are destined for greatness you are destined for purpose, and it is our time now. Now is the best time.

The amount of pain that you have gone through. Just like a bow and arrow, you’re being pulled back and the further you’re being pulled back that means that you are destined to go a greater distance. There is purpose to your pain, this is not the end of the road.”
